Mayhem NODB and Mystry need no introduction. Two of Birmingham’s finest, the former is best known for his earworm catchphrases and in our opinion – the hardest version of ‘French Montana‘ – which was released on vinyl last year. The latter produces dark grime tracks, most notably ‘Pulse 8‘ and ‘Liff‘.

Their latest track is ‘Mic Lord’. It’s a dark one: horror like strings and crunching bass combine and Mayhem does the dirt on the mic. MCs are known for their personality on the mic – which Mayhem gets across with aplomb – rattling through bars at speed on the hook. This one isn’t the deepest lyrically – but that isn’t the point – it’s designed to light up the speakers, which it does very easily.
