The Bug – Pressure (ft. Flowdan)
The world may feel like it’s on a slow race to the bottom, but at least there’s a new track from The Bug, so it’s not all bad. ‘Pressure’ — featuring Flowdan — has all the trappings of collaboration from the two artists: battery-acid synths layered atop each other, immense bass weight pressure and lyrics with a healthy dose of anti-government sentiment. Intense stuff, indeed. But it’s down to the skill of the two artists that it sounds banging. After all, it wouldn’t be a Bug track without making you want to shock out upon hearing it.
sbk – Be Careful (ft. JME & Shorty)
SBK’s latest track — titled ‘Be Careful’ — is the first drop from his forthcoming album ‘Serenity’. Featuring Boy Better Know legends JME and Shorty, the three go hell for leather, with SBK’s flow ever so slightly spaced out and grinding in the pockets of the instrumental’s warbled synth work. Three well-established grime emcees over a crazy beat makes ‘Be Careful’ one to turn up loud.
Mez – JME (Prod. by Mez)
Another first drop from a forthcoming project is up next. This time, Mez drops ‘JME’, which is set to feature on his new project “One Uncle”. Here, Mez mashes up some of his own bars and catchphrases with some of JME’s most legendary one-liners. The result? Mez putting together the old and the new like a DJ doing live edits on the set. One for the energy crew.
Taleko, KBrum, Bruno Koz, AKA AFK & Discarda – Cara do Grime
Keen eared underground heads will have heard Taleko’s ‘Malvadao Anthem’ back in August 2020, and now the Brazilian producer has brought together a bag of emcees to vocal the beat. ‘Cara Do Grime’ features some heavyweight barring from a selection of emcees from Brazil, as well as Discarda, the track playing out like a high-impact rally tune with plenty of hype. Grab ‘Cara Do Grime’ for a fire worldwide grime link up.
Ten Dixon – Rah Rah Rah (ft. Olah Bliss & Paws) (Prod. by J Beatz)
Ten Dixon’s latest track — titled ‘Rah Rah Rah’ — features Olah Bliss and Paws, and it’s a grime banger with plenty of reload-worthy punchlines, catchphrases and bars. The instrumental, produced by J Beatz, is built around a catchy vocal sample with heavy rhythms and sleek melodies. Stream ‘Rah Rah Rah’ for great emceeing and a hard instrumental.
Grindhouse – 2 Shots
July saw grime producer Grindhouse drop 2 Shots, an instrumental featuring skippy percussion lines, wobbly bass and plenty of mangled samples to decorate the track. ‘2 Shots’ is full of vitality and feels tailor-made for emcees. ‘2 Shots’ dropped on the new label GrimeAffiliates, so head over to Bandcamp to grab a great tune and support a fresh new grime label.
Vexxy – All Night
Vexxy is a producer based in Bristol, best known in underground circles for releases on Terrorythm, ESC_ and more, also being one half of production duo Vexxy & Jato. ‘All Night’ is built around a vocal sample, which Vexxy layers with powerful squarewave patterns, eski clicks and stirring melodies. Hit play on ‘All Night’ for some wave meets grime goodness and lots of atmosphere.
